OUR HISTORY

At family gatherings often the old pictures albums come out and are passed around.  With laughter and smiles shared memories are recalled and enjoyed.  The past gives us sense of rootedness and a sense of family identity.

As a family of churches we too have our “photo album”.  These “pictures” remind us of God’s goodness as well as the values and activities that have shaped us.  A.B. Simpson was a Canadian whom God led to New York City.  While serving as pastor of an inner city church God gave Simpson a passion to not only share the life transforming message of Jesus but also to show the love and grace of God to the community.   Reaching out to new immigrants, the poor, and the needy, the church moved out into their neighborhood.  This same love for God and people compelled Simpson and others to also go to the least reached peoples of the world.  The Christian and Missionary Alliance was born out of this desire to go to all people, compelled by the love of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit’s enabling.
