John's Gospel, 1:14 The Message

KELLY DYER

I was born and raised in Cold Lake, AB where as I grew up, I attended Grand Centre  Alliance Church.  When I was in Grade 9, I sensed God calling me to a deeper relationship with Him, and so I fully committed my heart to Him at a youth retreat at Belle View Bible Camp.

After high school, I decided to attend Canadian Bible College (now Ambrose) for a year, but in the end continued on to receive my Bachelor of Religious Education in 2001.

Ever since high school I had been involved in children’s ministry, but about a year prior to graduating from college I felt strongly that God was leading me in the direction of children’s ministry. I became very involved in the children’s ministries at my local church in Regina and in 2003 was hired as the children’s pastor in Sylvan Lake AB where I served for 7 amazing years.

While living in Sylvan Lake, our church became more and more interested in learning about and supporting missions, and I even took a trip to Venezuela to encourage and learn from children’s ministry workers there.  This trip was a pivotal moment in my understanding of international workers and missionary work.

It was here that God began to stir in me a real curiosity and desire to get involved in missions.  In early 2009 the Perspectives class was brought to my attention and I enrolled—and from the very first class, I heard God telling me “You need to go!”.  I am so thankful (and always amazed) for how God has clearly used many people and circumstances to guide me towards international ministry!
