OVERVIEW

To provide an exceptional experience for every customer through building, managing and motivating café staff through example based leadership.  Minimum 2 year commitment required.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

  • Established in 1994, Joma Bakery Café, Ltd. Lao is the Laotian market leader for high quality coffee, fresh fast food and bakery giving a taste of home for tourists and foreign workers living abroad.  Joma has an integrated business model that covers the whole value chain: from the bakeries to the cafés to provide the highest quality in each key process.  Joma is a social enterprise which generates long term employment for severely disadvantaged women who would otherwise be considered unemployable and where both enterprise and employees reach successful development paths. The Shareholders aim to replicate across the Region the successful JOMA’s model of a profitable company with a true social mission. The initial geographical scope of development includes Lao and Vietnam.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Business activities:

  • taking responsibility for the business performance of the cafe and payment systems
  • analyzing and planning cafe sales levels and needs
  • organizing marketing activities, such as promotional events and discount schemes
  • preparing reports as required
  • creating and executing plans for department and staff development
  • reviewing budgets and/or agreeing them with senior management
  • liaise with external agencies and authorities as necessary (advertising, PR, recruitment, training, fire services, police, local council, health and safety inspectors, etc).

Front end:

  • coordinating the entire operation of the cafe and oversee shift scheduling
  • managing and evaluate staff and providing them with feedback
  • responding to customer complaints
  • ensuring that all employees adhere to the company’s uniform standards and policies
  • oversee special requests/orders
  • recruiting, training and motivating staff to optimize the customers experience
  • ensure relevant HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc)
  • overseeing the supervisors and their reporting and duties

Housekeeping:

  • maintaining high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety
  • checking stock levels and ordering supply levels
  • preparing cash drawers and providing petty cash as required
  • Manage upkeep and condition of all equipment, fixtures and fabric of shop premises
  • helping in any area of the cafe when circumstances dictate

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Professional qualifications or retail experience
  • Management, leadership, organizational and computer skills
  • Being self motivated, creative, honest and reliable
  • Fluency in English (if English is second language)
  • Relevant experience in food service or retail management
